The FAA IFR
The IFR at a glance
The instrument rating (IFR FAA) allows you to fly in airplane registered in the U.S.A. (in N):
in an IFR flight plan
at night
in the clouds
in class A airspaces
To be eligible for the training, you need to have:
A pilot license
A medical license
50 hours of cross country flight as PIC
3 hours of night flight
10 landings at night
Training
The training is divided into two phases:
Theory (1 week)
Practical (3-4 weeks): at least 40 hours of simulated or actual instrument flight time
The theory exam will be performed on a computer in Paris or London at Flight Safety, you can prepare by yourself or you can attend one of our intensive ground schools lasting 5 days.
The pratcical exam is also divided into an oral examination lasting about 1 hour and a flight of about 1H 30. It will be performed where you did your training (at our Cannes base or at your chosen location).
